Bulgarian Treaty

Bulgarian Treaty
Not an actual treaty, but rather an anonymous speech dedicated to the signing of a treaty in 927 between Byzantium and Bulgaria (qq.v.). It contains some interesting but veiled allusions to an invasion by Symeon of Bulgaria (q.v.), his coronation by Nicholas I Mystikos (q.v.), and the elevation to the throne of Romanos I (q.v.). Various authors have been proposed, including Theodore Daphnopates (q.v.).
